Liverpool is one of England's most significant maritime cities. With an array of event spaces, an eclectic mix of hotels and some of the best museums and attractions outside London, it truly is a dynamic large conference and events destination. The largest meeting facility on the waterfront, ACC Liverpool is the only directly interconnected arena and convention centre in Europe. It offers a variety of spaces for meetings or conferences including a 1,350 seat auditorium, 7,125m2 of exhibition space and 11,000 capacity arena. Opening in 2015 is the venue's Exhibition Centre Liverpool, which will add 8,100m2 for trade shows, exhibitions, banquets and concerts, as well as a hotel development.

900 delegates not immune to The Beatles mania

ACC Liverpool was chosen to host the International Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics 2012 Workshop and Conference. The event attracted 900 international delegates from all over the world including China, Australia, Kazakhstan, Argentina, USA and United Arab Emirates and delegates consisted of clinical scientists, medics, academics and researchers.

The conference element of the event began with a welcome reception at St George's Hall in Liverpool city centre. Within ACC Liverpool the conference took place in different Halls , some of the smaller rooms were used for speaker previews, sponsors' presentations and committee meetings. Delegates stayed in a total of nine hotels in the city centre which were all within walking distance of ACC Liverpool and allowed them to experience the buzz of the city, the shopping facilities, the heritage and stunning architecture, the music and The Beatles mania.

Upcoming destination

The social programmes included a dinner at Aintree Racecourse, Merseyside Maritime Museum and Liverpool bar Alma de Cuba.
